Our Team
From the Desk of the Director
Breast cancer is no longer just a health concern, it is a public health crisis, particularly in low- and middle-income countries like India. The incidence of breast cancer is rising rapidly, and what is even more alarming is that mortality rates are also on the rise. Despite advances in early detection and treatment, thousands of women in our country still succumb to breast cancer every year, primarily due to late diagnosis, lack of awareness, and unequal access to quality care.
At the Institute of Breast Disease Kolkata, we believe that solutions to our challenges must come from within. The healthcare systems and socioeconomic realities of India and the broader Indian subcontinent are vastly different from those of high-income countries. Imported models of breast cancer care often fail to address the unique gaps in our healthcare ecosystem. We need to develop innovative, cost-effective, and practical strategies tailored to the needs of our population.

With this vision, the Institute was established to identify, develop, and promote innovative ways to bridge the gaps in breast cancer care. Our commitment lies in:
- Delivering state-of-the-art breast care, ensuring that patients receive the best possible treatment, irrespective of their economic background.
- Strengthening breast cancer research, focusing on locally relevant studies that lead to impactful, evidence-based interventions.
- Educating all stakeholders including doctors, nurses, healthcare workers,Primary care Rural Health Practitioners, Health Assistants and the General public to create a well-informed ecosystem for breast cancer care.
We believe that innovation should not be restricted by patents when it comes to saving lives. We are happy to DE- PATENT our innovations so that more institutions and experts can adopt and implement them for the greater good of breast cancer patients.
Our journey has only begun, and we welcome collaborations, partnerships, and contributions from like-minded individuals and organizations who share our mission of transforming breast cancer care in the Indian subcontinent.
